Half bath makeover

Okay, I know I'm WAY behind on blogging.  Life has been too crazy recently and I'm waiting for it to slow down.  Okay, okay, I know it's not going to slow down.  For now, I will blog about a small accomplishment...a half-bath makeover!  Because starting a business, deciding to (kind of) quit my job and planning for that, travelling, working full-time, and trying to keep up with everyday life isn't enough, I feel the need to throw in a few house projects.  First up was half-bath.

Before photos (very blah).  Someone might say "Wow, this bathroom is very off-white, plain, and is that still a Christmas soap dispenser you have out?  Um, the fixtures are nice."

We installed a chair rail, painted (same orange/terra cotta color that is in living room...shows up bright on photos online), put up decorative shelf, added a few accessories.  And we have ourselves a nice bathroom!

About all those other things going on...will have to squeeze in some blogging time hopefully soon.

Next upcoming house project - laundry room makeover.  Stay tuned.

The circus!

We made it to the circus today!  You wouldn't think getting there would be all that difficult, right?  I mean, it's only 1 mile from our house to the arena.  And I bought tickets 2 weeks ago, so what could go wrong?  Well, for starters, I could lose the tickets.  They were in my purse for at least a week, I know that.  Then at some point I think I remember taking them out "so they wouldn't get lost".  Ha. Where they ended up after that, I do not know.  But I do know I spent the entire morning looking for those damn tickets and getting mad at my kids if they asked me for anything or if they asked me for the 80th time if I had yet found the tickets.

Doug and Lynette took Ada to the circus on Wednesday, so I knew from that experience that parking costs $10 and cotton candy is a whopping $12!  So I had hit up the Dollar Tree yesterday and got cotton candy for $1.  Shoved that and countless other snacks into my purse first thing this morning.  So that was super fun pulling all of that out in process of looking for tickets.  Then putting it all back. Then taking it all out again because what if I missed a deeper part of that pocket the first time around looking. I even went through all of the trash since Wednesday (when the trash pickup came).  Never found the tickets.  Ugh!  So I called the box office and they said if I brought in the credit card I used and an ID, they could reprint the tickets.  Phew!

Seemed easy enought to reprint, right?  But I gave them my card and my ID and they came back and asked when I bought them and where and said it didn't come up, so I gave them my debit card...maybe that's the card I used.  Then she said I had to call my bank and get the transaction date, amount, and reference code.  WTF?  Thank goodness for online banking and iPhones as I was able to pull it up in a few minutes.  Gave her all of the info and a short 15 or so minutes later, we finally had our tickets.  And the show had already started.

So we rushed to our seats, got through 2 areas of them checking tickets.  I carried Brynn and Blythe followed me and then I turned around to see where Braden and Ethan were and Braden was at the top of the steps asking me if I knew where Ethan was.  Sudden panic.  Blythe and I ran back up the steps and we couldn't see Ethan anywhere.  I told 2 workers about my lost child and Braden went the other direction.  2 minutes of panic later, Braden had finally found him.  He of course was very upset and shaken.  Took him probably 30 or 45 minutes to be back to normal, so not so sure he enjoyed the first bit of the circus.

But eventually we all relaxed and really enjoyed the circus.  Favorites were the jugglers, tigers, elephants, and guy on fire catapulting across the stage.  Also the cotton candy I brought.  And needless to say, I didn't get any pictures because I had a bag crammed full of food and can barely keep my life together.

Oh and Brynn had a complete meltdown the last half of the circus because she was so tired, but fortunately she confined her meltdown to the floor area between my feet.
